- The world needs to see denominational walls come down, and congregations that are not all white, or all black, or all yellow, or all brown, but a racial mix of people who do not see color—just someone to love. This would truly be the evidence that the body of believers (the church) has passed Christ’s litmus test for being His people: “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (John 13:34–35, KJV). Showing love is not easy—especially to our enemies—but God commands His children to do just that. Nothing reveals our God to the world like the love we demonstrate. The best Christian song or the most powerful sermon written, could not be sung or preached well enough to touch a hardened heart like a simple act of kindness.
Love is to the heart as rain is to the earth. The lack of rain creates a desert where one finds an occasional water hole; likewise, the lack of love creates a wretched society where one may find an occasional act of kindness. Without a good soaking of love, hearts that are fertile with kindness, charity, and selflessness will disappear, leaving the landscape covered with the arid sands of insensitivity. Only weeds flourish in drought conditions as they choke out those plants that bear fruit. This is the nature of a weed—nothing is produced for human consumption, only seed to multiply itself.
- In a “we concede” sort of a way, we should be happy that there is suffering, because if today there was peace, love, joy, and happiness on earth, then God would have been wrong—or worse, God would have been a liar. If there was no pain and suffering in the world, it would prove that humanity does not need God to live a peaceful and fulfilling life. If this were true, an even scarier thought would be that Satan spoke the truth when he conversed with Eve on that fateful day in paradise. Think about the ramifications of this scenario on the lives of every living being—past, present, and future.
- Surrendering our hearts for its circumcision will not leave us without a will; we will have a new heart that beats to the rhythm of God’s perfect will. We will still be able to choose and have preferences, but our choices will no longer have selfish agendas behind them. From that which is pure and righteous will we choose, because God has replaced our will with His perfect will. What would it be like in a world in which God’s will reigns supreme? It will be paradise—just as it was back in the Garden of Eden, the place humanity gave up so they could create their own paradise by establishing righteousness by works and maintaining compliance to the Law using their willpower. Great idea.
